Radiology Dictation Software
VoicePrivate - Healthcare Edition

Radiology Dictation That Stays
on Your Device

PowerScribe 360 and Dragon Medical One route your dictation through cloud servers. VoicePrivate doesn't. CT, MRI, ultrasound, and X-ray reports are transcribed locally - 20 to 100+ reports per shift, no network dependency.

The cloud dictation problem
for radiologists

Cloud dictation workflow

PowerScribe 360 / Dragon Medical One

  • Radiologist dictates findings at workstation
  • Voice sent to Nuance or Microsoft cloud
  • Transcription returned over network
  • Remote reads fail without stable internet
  • Report audio exists on vendor servers
VoicePrivate workflow

On-device radiology dictation

  • Radiologist dictates findings via hotkey
  • On-device AI transcribes with radiology vocabulary
  • Text typed into PACS report field instantly
  • Works fully offline - remote reads included
  • Audio never leaves your device. Ever.

How radiologists use it daily

Who uses it

Radiologists switching from cloud platforms

  • Body radiologists reading CT and MRI volumes
  • Teleradiology groups doing remote overnight reads
  • Subspecialty radiologists: neuroradiology, MSK, breast
  • Interventional radiologists documenting procedures
  • Nuclear medicine physicians dictating PET reports
  • Independent radiologists without enterprise IT contracts
The workflow

Fitting into the reading room session

  • Open PACS viewer, pull up study, place cursor in report field
  • Press hotkey to start dictating findings and impression
  • VoicePrivate transcribes directly into the report field
  • Medical terms, laterality, measurements all recognized
  • Voice macros for normal study templates save additional time
  • No reconnect delays between studies - fully local

Report types covered out of the box

The radiology vocabulary set includes modality-specific terms across all major subspecialties.

CT Reporting

CT abdomen and pelvis, chest, and head

Dictate findings for contrast and non-contrast studies. Hounsfield unit values, organ dimensions, lymph node size criteria, and vascular enhancement patterns are all recognized without phonetic workarounds.

MRI Reporting

Brain, spine, and musculoskeletal MRI

T1, T2, FLAIR, DWI, ADC - signal characteristics dictate cleanly. Anatomical terms for neural structures, spinal levels, ligament and tendon nomenclature are included in the base dictionary.

Ultrasound

Abdominal, OB, vascular, and thyroid US

Echogenicity descriptors, Doppler flow terminology, TIRADS and BIRADS category language, biometric measurements for obstetric studies - all covered without needing custom dictionary additions.

X-Ray Reporting

Chest, bone, and fluoroscopy

Plain film findings dictate at speed - cardiomediastinal silhouette, costophrenic angles, cortical integrity, fracture pattern descriptions. Works smoothly when you are reading through a large batch of trauma X-rays.

Nuclear Medicine

PET/CT, bone scan, and thyroid scans

SUV values, radiopharmaceutical names, tracer uptake distribution language, DOTATATE and FDG-PET reporting vocabulary included. Nuclear medicine terms that tripped up older speech engines are handled correctly.

Interventional

IR procedure notes and reports

Biopsy, drainage, embolization, TIPS, ablation procedure documentation. Catheter and guidewire nomenclature, fluoroscopy time, radiation dose documentation - dictate the complete IR note without switching tools.

Questions from radiologists

Does VoicePrivate work with PACS and RIS systems?
VoicePrivate types transcribed text directly into any active text field - including report fields inside web-based PACS viewers, desktop reporting applications, and RIS worklists. There is no native PACS integration to configure. Place your cursor in the report field, press your hotkey, dictate, and the text appears where you need it.
How does it compare to PowerScribe 360?
PowerScribe 360 is a full cloud-connected radiology reporting platform - it routes voice through Nuance servers and includes structured reporting, critical finding alerts, and RIS workflow integration. VoicePrivate is a focused dictation engine: it handles the voice-to-text step, works fully offline, costs significantly less per seat, and runs on Mac as well as Windows. If your facility already has a full PowerScribe deployment, VoicePrivate is a complement for teleradiology and remote reads. For independent radiologists or smaller groups, it can replace the dictation layer entirely.
Can I use it for remote reads from home?
Yes - this is one of the most common use cases. After the one-time model download, VoicePrivate requires no internet connection to transcribe. Teleradiologists reading studies from home can dictate full reports without any network dependency for the dictation step itself. PACS connectivity for image loading is a separate concern unrelated to VoicePrivate.
Does the dictionary include nuclear medicine and interventional terminology?
Yes. The base dictionary covers nuclear medicine vocabulary including radiopharmaceutical names, uptake distribution language, SUV values, and specific scan types (bone scan, HIDA, DOTATATE, FDG-PET). Interventional radiology procedure terminology - catheters, embolization agents, ablation systems, vascular anatomy - is also included. Custom terms can be added for subspecialty or institutional preferences.
Do I need IT approval to install it?
VoicePrivate installs as a standard desktop application. In most environments, no IT approval is required for personal workstation software. Because it processes all audio locally and makes no outbound cloud connections during use, it does not introduce network security concerns that typically trigger IT review. That said, group practice or hospital reading room deployments should follow their own institutional policies.
What happens to my voice data?
Audio captured during dictation is processed by the on-device AI model and then discarded. Nothing is stored, logged, or transmitted. The transcribed text is typed into your active application. VoicePrivate never receives your report content, your patient identifiers, or your audio. There is no cloud account associated with your dictation sessions.
