Privacy Policy
"Privacy isn't a feature. It's the architecture."
Our Mission
VoicePrivate exists because we believe your voice data is among the most intimate information you produce. It reveals your identity, your health, your emotions, and your thoughts. No company should collect that data as a cost of doing business.
We built VoicePrivate to prove that world-class voice-to-text doesn't require cloud processing. Every word you speak is processed by AI models running directly on your hardware. Your audio never touches our servers because we don't have servers for audio processing.
Founded by engineers who were frustrated by the false choice between good transcription and good privacy. We chose both.
Privacy Architecture
Here's exactly what happens when you use VoicePrivate and what doesn't happen.
Privacy Policy
This is our privacy policy in plain English. No lawyer-speak, no dark patterns, no 40-page documents.
What we collect
Audio data: Never collected. All processing happens on-device.
Transcription text: Never collected. Stored only in your local database on your device.
Usage analytics: None in the app. No telemetry, no crash reports, no event tracking. This website is a separate matter and is covered below.
Personal information: Email address only, solely for license management and support. We don't sell or share it.
This website, which is not the app
The claims above are about the VoicePrivate application. This marketing website is ordinary web hosting and it does use analytics, so it would be dishonest to imply otherwise.
voiceprivate.com uses Google Analytics, PostHog and Microsoft Clarity to see which pages people read and where they get stuck. Clarity records anonymised session activity such as clicks, scrolling and mouse movement, and masks text you type by default. These run in your browser on this site only.
Purchase attribution: A first-party cookie remembers how you reached the site, your landing page and up to 10 VoicePrivate page paths. This record contains no email address, IP address, typed text or URL query strings. It is sent to VoicePrivate only when you proceed to checkout, where a random reference ID connects it to the resulting Stripe purchase. We use it to understand which pages and channels lead to sales.
None of it touches the app. Your dictation audio and transcripts never leave your machine, and nothing you say into VoicePrivate is visible to us, to these analytics tools, or to anyone else.
What we don't do
- ✗ We never upload your audio to any server
- ✗ We never use your data to train AI models
- ✗ We never sell or share personal data with third parties
- ✗ We never track your behavior inside the app
- ✗ We never embed third-party SDKs or tracking pixels
Network requests VoicePrivate makes
License validation: A simple encrypted check to verify your subscription status. Contains only your license key, no audio, no text, no metadata.
Model downloads: One-time download of AI model files from our CDN. After download, everything runs offline.
iCloud sync (Team plan): End-to-end encrypted sync of transcription history. Encrypted on-device before upload, Apple cannot read your data.
Security Practices
AES-256-GCM Encryption
All iCloud backups and exports are encrypted using AES-256-GCM, the same standard used by governments and financial institutions. Encryption keys are generated and stored locally on your device, never transmitted.
Local Key Management
Encryption keys for backups are generated and stored locally on your device. Keys never leave your device and are never transmitted to any server.
Open-Source AI Models
The AI models that process your voice are fully open source. You can inspect exactly what code is running on your data. No proprietary black boxes.
Minimal Permissions
VoicePrivate requests only the permissions it needs, microphone access and accessibility (for live-typing). No network permissions are required for transcription. Microphone access requires explicit user permission.
