Wispr Flow's Data Controls page says it plainly: "Transcription always occurs on the cloud. This is the best way for us to provide accurate, low latency transcription." When you dictate with Wispr Flow, your audio leaves your computer and is processed on their servers.
The same page explains that a setting called Dictation Cloud Storage "controls whether Wispr stores your transcription data (transcripts, audio, and dictation history) on Wispr's servers."
Wispr Flow is a good product, and many people are comfortable with that. If you would rather your voice stay on your own computer, VoicePrivate does the same everyday job with the recognition on your Mac or PC.

- Open the email we send you. Your licence key and the download links for Mac and Windows are in it.
- Install on your Mac (macOS 13 or later) or your PC (Windows 10 version 1903 or later, or Windows 11), and allow the microphone.
- If you have a Dragon word list, open the Personal Dictionary and click Import.
- Click into a document, press Command+Shift+Space on a Mac or Ctrl+Shift+Space on Windows, speak, and press the shortcut again. Read the text where it lands.
